Cool Larders Becoming A Kitchenn Selling Point

There are now many new houses in this area.  It was once a sedate midlands town with many victorian terraces, built from the mid 1800s to house the boom in the local shoe, boot and leather industry that was springing up in this part of the country.   Many of the terraces are still here and make very fine homes.  They feature substantially built spacious accommodation – all of them remodelled inthe kitchen and utility area by now.  Gone are the tiny little sculleries with just a ceramic butler sink and wooden draining board and the stone floored larder with marble shelves.  There are one or two houses that have managed to incorporate these within their brand new schemes, but generally these very useful features went by the wayside during drastic modernisations of the 1970s and ’80s.  for some reason, the amazing food storing capability was lost in the rush to rip out and rebuild.   In these days of very long, hot and dry summers, these very cool larders would be such a boon!
