Favourite Bolt Hole Replaced With New Builds
On a short trip out driving down a rather narrow and winding C road, my eye was caught by a large wire fenced off area on the side of the road. A recently cleared and soon to be building plot approaching a once familiar corner. After a moments thought, I realised that a very favourite lunch time retreat may have been demolished and I must have driven past just the remaining pile of bricks and debris. This old pub had bee a real favourite for a friend and I to pop out to every week – a quiet, peaceful garden where we could gossip and chat. Not wanting to believe this sad thought, I turned round and drove back past it. Sure enough, what had always seemed to be a gorgeous Art Deco style brick building with pretty gable ends and porch was gone. The developers had their advertising hoarding up – 6 detached houses were to replace the one beautiful 1910 pub!
