Gettting New Build With Garden Space Is Essential
We do tend to take for granted our being able to have built houses with plots of garden. I can’t think of many neighbours and friends now who relish their gardens. I did have older acquanitances for whom their back garden was an absolute essential in their lives and when they had to down size, the thought of giving up this much loved resource caused greater heartache than the change of house. Here in the UK after ww2 when houses needed to be provided quickly, it was deemed essential to give the families plenty of outdoor space too. They were encouraged to grow their own vegetables and for the children to play outside – and my childhood certainly allowed a lot of that. I’ve just come back from visiting family overseas where they do not construct houses with big back gardens and culturally do not relish playing outside. Sadly for this planet, hanging any laundry outside is considered a disgrace, despite them enjoying perfect weather. Ho hum. Such is life.
