That Whimsical 1920s Art Deco Dream Remains Intact
It’s a funny old thing thinking about our houses When I was growing up, in a very pretty village, I only ever imagined having to live in a similar place to our family home. We had a brand new semi detached house in a modern cul de sac built on the edge of farmland but still well within reach of the row of shops and other facilities that made it so attractive. I never imagined I’d ever be able to live in one of the beautiful Art Deco style bungalows that sat back along the road where I did my paper round for several years! There was one particularly attractive property with low pantiled roof, bow windows with rectangular lead paned windows, bedrooms in the attic had sweet little curved topped windows and the piece de resistance was the oak front door within a spacious brick porch. The symmetry and beauty of this bungalow obviously made a major impression on me and I’ve lusted after similar all my adult life … Sadly, whenever similar has come to the property market near me, it’s been tragically well out of my financial grasp!
